a Sentinel Front row and 3 Musket or Dragoons, some Healers. and cavalry mechanics?įor you Firearms only get good once you unlock the Tier 4 Mechanic to shoot twice per turn. They don't hit the hardest, but having every single member of the Unit be able to heal. You can also use Champions or Zweihanders here.Īgainst Firearms enemies you want some unit with Sentinels as Frontline, damage reduction Artifact and Fire Mages.įew things are as though as a Valkyrie Unit. The Paladins and the healers, will still have enough healing throughput even despite the dimishing returns of the multiple uses of magic, while the swordmasters will be resistant enough for a solid backrow, but also still hit hard every single time. A Wedge shape that goes down to a single Tank with good attributes can be all you need to protect a unit of mages to really damage an enemy unit, but its poor in defense.Ī versatile tank unit probably has 2+ Tanks in the front line, 2 healers and a robust backline to withstand Ambush mechanics and assassins backrow attacks.Ī Templar unit (here you use Paladins as Tanks) with 2 healers and some Swordmasters can be great to hold a choke point against a lot of enemy attacks. The formation shape is as important as the units in the formation. When you play on the harder difficulty you want to have units more focused on a specific role, in my opinion. Playing on Normal you can do whatever you want and if your positioning is sound, you will not struggle to hard. And this is also why i don't think there is a "meta" to this game. The issue with this set up is that you are entirely open to "Assassin" attacks, as you face them in mid to end game. I am not sure where people said that, it does sound like a bad idea, to me.
